Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801) – Onshore:
These visas are for a de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who are in Australia at the time of application. Subclass 820 is the temporary visa that allows the applicant to live and work in Australia while their permanent Subclass 801 visa application is being processed. The permanent Subclass 801 visa is granted approximately two years after the combined 820/801 application is lodged.
Partner Visa (Subclass 309/100) – Offshore:
These visas are for a de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen who are outside Australia at the time of application. Subclass 309 is the temporary partner visa that allows the applicant to enter Australia and live with their partner while their permanent Subclass 100 partner visa application is being processed. The permanent Subclass 100 is granted approximately two years after the combined 309/100 application is lodged.
Prospective Marriage Visa – Subclass 300
The Prospective Marriage visa is for applicants who intend to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. This visa allows the applicant to enter Australia to marry their prospective spouse and generally valid for 9 to 15 months. The applicant must enter Australia during this time and marry their intended spouse. After the marriage, the applicant can apply for a Partner visa which leads to permanent residence.
