The National Innovation visa has replaced the previous Global Talent visa. The Global Talent visa​ was closed to new applications from 6 December 2024.

This new National Innovation visa is a permanent visa for people who have an internationally recognized record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following areas:

• a profession
• a sport
• the arts
• academia and research.

To apply for this visa you need to submit an Expression of Interest and be invited to apply.

You also need to have a nominator with a national reputation in your area of talent who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, eligible New Zealand citizen or an Australian organization.
